Over 30 Years of Working with Vintage Singer 221 Sewing Machines

It all started in Paducah, Kentucky with the chance purchase of a Singer 221 Featherweight in 1994. The Quilt Gal started as a creative outlet in 1997, built around my love of quilting, fabric design, and handmade textile work. What began with quilted pieces and fabric experimentation eventually grew into years of exploring dyeing techniques, batik, marbling, and other hands-on fiber arts.

Over time, my work naturally shifted toward something more focused.

Today, I spend my time helping people with vintage Singer 221 sewing machines and the kinds of questions that come with owning a well-loved, decades-old tool. That includes sourcing parts, offering guidance on care and maintenance, and supporting owners who want to keep their machines running instead of replacing them.

This is a one-person business, and I keep it that way intentionally. It allows me to work closely with each person, take my time with every request, and stay connected to the real needs behind each machine that comes my way.

I’m based in Texas, and most of my connections come through word of mouth, sewing communities, and online groups of people who care about preserving these machines and using them well.
